Year 5 and 6 Anti-Racism Assembly

Children in years 5 and 6 had an excellent anti-racism workshop with Mpula Lawton of ARISE: Anti Racism in Schools and Education. The children learned the meaning of ‘Get Up, Stand Up,’ ensuring that they always report any instances of racism and discrimination against themselves or others. The children also discussed the impact that racism has on people and how words and slurs have a huge impact on the people that they are used against.

Mpula Lawton has previously delivered whole staff training.

Roding Primary School is proud to be an actively anti-racist school, and we look forward to continuing our anti-racism ethos throughout our teaching and learning, alongside our lessons and assemblies which also combat all forms of discrimination.

Junior RE Conference 2024

Some of our Year 5 children had a great time, meeting with other schools to engage in thinking about how we can build strong communities, through speaking up and kindness. They also learnt about what religious and world views say about how we should live well in our world. It was a very enjoyable day.

Quad Kids

The Roding Athletics team had a fantastic day competing at Quad Kids 2024. The competition was tough, but our team were tougher! Well done to all the children that took part and gave it 100%, you were a credit to the school and did us all very proud.

Place of Worship Competition 2024

Well done to everyone who has taken part in our Place of Worship competition! As you can see, we have had so many wonderful entries. It has been very difficult to choose  the winners. Our best entries have now been entered into the borough competition as well.

Tuesday 4th June marked the first annual staff vs children flag football match.  The staff narrowly claimed victory against a well-coached, skillful and spirited Roding Rockets.  The match was thoroughly enjoyed by all involved and we all look forward to the rematch!

“We arrived at Barking Rugby Club and got ready to play. The first team we went up against, we beat. Then soon after, the second team we faced we lost. All together we won 3 matches and lost 3. It was a super exciting experience and I couldn’t believe that we did better than last year and that we were able to beat a really strong team in our last game.” Xavier

“I think that it was a really good experience, it was a great game to get everyone together to have fun. I think everyone in the competition was trying their hardest, but showed good sportsmanship in every game. Even if we lost, everyone tried to be positive and enjoy the experience.” Tyrese

“It was fun, we had a good experience playing in a tournament against other teams. It was great to play against difficult teams so that we could get better. It was an amazing tournament with great teamwork and our last game, which we won, was our best.” Jona
